We don’t want good RDAs to stop developing once they’re hired.
Smiles is a seven-location dental group, which gives us opportunities to invest in our team members and create development paths that can be difficult to find in a single-location practice.
We pay for continuing education and can support eligible RDAs in completing their orthodontic module.
Depending on your interests, experience and performance, your development at Smiles may include:

Depending on the clinic and dentist you work with, you’ll have exposure to a broad range of dentistry and modern clinical workflows, including:

As an RDA, you’ll be a clinical partner to the dentist and an important point of contact for our patients.

- Preparing the operatory, instruments and materials before appointments
- Providing confident chairside assistance
- Anticipating the dentist’s clinical needs

- Taking high-quality digital radiographs within your scope

- Maintaining excellent infection-prevention and sterilization standards
- Keeping operatories organized, stocked and ready
- Communicating proactively when supplies or equipment need attention

- Communicating effectively with dentists, hygienists, administrators and fellow assistants

Qualifications
- Registered Dental Assistant eligible to practise in Alberta
- Appropriate current registration and practice permit
- Previous clinical dental-assisting experience preferred
- Strong chairside, communication and organizational skills
- Excellent infection-prevention practices
- Dentrix or similar practice-management experience is an asset
- Orthodontic module is an asset — if you don’t currently have it, ask us about completing it with Smiles
- Availability for the required clinic schedule, including applicable evenings and weekends
