  • Not rinsing the brush after brushing

  • Brushing in a wrong way

The right approach is to brush gently for 2-3 minutes.

You should brush your teeth at least two times in a day, especially before going to bed. However, if you drink or eat sweet foods, you should clean more often. Brushing for two minutes is generally enough to remove plaque.

  • Wrong choice of bristles

Some toothbrushes have straight bristles, others have straight bristles. So which one is better? It is more dependent on brushing technique than how the bristles are angled. Experts recommend using a brush with soft to medium round-ended, multi-tufted nylon bristles. Remember, bristles should not be hard on your gums and teeth but they should be sturdy to assist in plaque removal.

  • Using the wrong toothbrush

Experts recommend using a small to medium size toothbrush. Ensure the brush is comfortable to hold. Usually, people find it confusing to decide between manual or electrical toothbrush. But it is completely up to you to decide that which one you find to be more comfortable. Nevertheless, according to experts, electric toothbrushes are more effective than manual toothbrushes at removing plaque. You can consult your dentist to decide which one will best suffice your needs.
