How Do I Prepare For A Tooth Pull?
The dentist will need to do a number of things before you can have your tooth or teeth pulled. Make sure that during this time, if anything else is happening such as medications being taken for medical conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes then let the dental team know about it so they are aware of your condition
Make sure that you tell the dentist of any medications, vitamins or supplements before they are given to ensure there will be no complications during treatment.

What Are The Tooth Extraction Risks
Tooth extractions are, for the most part, safe procedures that come with few serious risks. However, like with any surgery, there are risks involved! One of the most common risks of tooth extraction is dry socket. This happens when the blood clot of extraction site is knocked loose.
Complications that can occur:
- Bleeding that lasts longer than 12 hours
- Severe fever and chills, signaling an infection
- Nausea or vomiting
- Cough
- Chest pain and shortness of breath
- Swelling and redness at the surgical site
Pulling a tooth – Aftercare
- Apply a cold compress to the side of your face that had the extraction. Do this for as long as you can, up to 10 minutes at a time to reduce swelling.
- Once the tooth is pulled, the dentist will apply a piece of gauze to the extraction site.
- Don’t use a straw or smoke for 24-72 hours after the tooth pull.
