Clear braces are used to realign teeth that do not have an optimal placement. They may also be referred to as ceramic braces and are often preferred over metal brackets for aesthetic reasons.


Clear braces are not clear aligners like Invisalign, they are just conventional braces that use clear material for the brackets on the teeth. This can prevent them from standing out too much for the benefit of the patient.


The brackets used to make clear braces can be made from multiple materials:

How Do Clear Braces Work?

They work the same as your standard, conventional braces. The clear brackets are attached to the teeth using an adhesive, or bands. The brackets will hold the archwires in place as the teeth are gradually moved into a more optimal position.

How Long Do You Wear Clear Braces?

The treatment duration will largely depend on the type and severity of your teeth alignment issues. On average the duration of treatment will last between 18 and 24 months. As with regular braces, you will need ongoing appointments every 4-6 weeks so the dentist can monitor your progress.

What Do Clear Braces Look Like?

The main difference between these braces and the traditional braces will be the see transparent, clear, brackets. This difference will cause the braces to stand out less than their metal counterparts.

Clear braces are priced out by the brand that supplies them, the pricing will be similar to traditional braces. The pricing will largely vary per brand, and it can be over $10,000 for two arches (upper and lower). However, it can be less than that, depending on the needs of the patient.
